This is Service Design Thinking.
basics/tools/cases

The book project “This is Service Design Thinking. – basics/tools/cases” is a crowd-sourced approach to create a textbook on service design / design thinking. Beside an introduction to this field by a variety of authors with different backgrounds, it will describe methods and tools used in this field and exemplify these with not more than five case studies.

A project website (http://www.service.engagement.ac) is now online and in the hands of the global community of service design thinkers, practitioners and customers. The project is also on Twitter @This_is_SDT, which will perhaps be the best way to keep updated on new methods. The site is all open source and utilizes a comment and feedback system that allows anyone in our broad community to visit the site, submit a method or tool they are familiar with or have experience of. Any user can also comment on other submitted methods on a paragraph by paragraph basis. We hope that this ease of access and this fine level of feedback will encourage a lot of participation and discussion as well as resulting in an end product that is representative of the Service Design community at large in its own words. Deadline for contributions will be January 6th 2010. All contributors will be mentioned as a co-authors in the printed book in return for the contribution (publishing date will be end of 2010).

are any members here located in the US? very curious to know…

i'm new to service design and excited to latch on to some knowledgeable folks stateside. so far, i can see an abundance of great service design work being done across the atlantic, but i'm curious as to this groups' thoughts of why the US hasn't caught onto the practice—as quickly at least. i feel like a lot of the problems in the public sector could really benefit from a service design approach.

thanks. :)

There have been a number of papers written on Services Science that may be informative. They may be found in the IBM Journal of R&D. Forgot the issue, but it is within the last two years.

Hi Adam,

in Copenhagen you could contact 1508 or the livinglab. I‘m sorry, I‘ve no idea about Malmö.
